Alcohol

If you drink alcohol you're either drinking three of those options - Beer, Wine and Vodka to name a few. The limit of alcohol to drink a week is 14 units, which is roughly 175ml of wine or 6 pints of 4% beer. If you drink too much alcohol you become drunk and can do harmful things.

A huge harm that being drunk can do is drink driving. As of 2022 in the UK, 6800 people were either killed or injured by someone drunk behind the wheel. Even though alcohol isn't powerful to kill you, it can kill others. As of 2024, 4 out of 10 people between 18 - 24 year olds (39%) don't drink alcohol. Young people are more likely to develop mental health issues from alcohol usage like depression and memory loss. Between 2021 and 2022, 46% of young people who entered drug and alcohol services checked for alcohol problems. If you drink too much for many years, you could suffer with kidney disease, liver disease, stroke and cancers (mainly pancreatic and liver). Government statistics say that in 2021 there were 20,970 deaths related to alcohol. Alternatives for drinking alcohol are drinking 0% alcohol contained, J20 juices and Ginger Beer.
