Addiction doesn't only affect the person that's an addict, it affects friends and family despite them not being addicts. The behaviour on the addict might take a toll on them physically and mentally through amount of stress that they're going through. It can also lead to loss of trust and relationship problems, possibly leading to a divorce. More serious is financial problems because of the addiction you pay for and become homeless, despite the fact that the family member has nothing to do with the addiction.
